After the unparalelled success of the first Avengers movie, we're positively titillated about the potential of what's in store for the second ensemble piece, helmed by Joss Whedon. So for those of you as excited as us, here's the necessary updates:

Mark Ruffalo who plays the friendly giant Hulk has been discussing the recent rumours that Marvel were having a tough time of securing the return of all original Avengers Assemble actors. Apparently though, such rumours were a load of tripe; if they had plans on recasting any of the major roles, he'd surely have heard about it.

Speaking to Moviefone, Ruffalo said: "I haven't caught wind of any of that... I was surprised to hear it, because I don't even think anyone's really started negotiating yet... I don't see a reason to panic."

Someone who is unsure of a return though, is Samuel L Jackson who plays the eye-patch-wearing head of S.H.I.E.L.D, Nick Fury. Speaking to the Metro, the actor most synonymous with the word 'motherf*cker' said: "I don't know. They don't tell me that kind of stuff. All I know is that I am doing Captain America 2." Well thank goodness for that.

Regardless of what happens, Jackson is game for any involvement in the Marvel universe: "It's been cool. The Marvel universe continues to grow and get better. I think I have four or five pictures left on my nine-picture deal, so I will just keep showing up."

Between this and yesterday's Saoirse Ronan news, we expect the will they/won't they news to keep pouring in. Excitement!
