If you're wondering why so many comic-book movie trailers and news is dropping today, it's because of DC FanDome last night.

Indeed, the first big trailer out of the event was 'Wonder Woman 1984', giving a further look at Kristen Wiig and Pedro Pascal's characters, Cheetah and Maxwell Lord respectively. It's not yet clear exactly what's going on in the story because, for one, Chris Pine's character died at the end of the last one.

Not only that, why is it set in 1984? Why does Pedro Pascal kind of look like Donald Trump? Is Kristen Wiig's character basically just refreshing Michelle Pfeiffer's performance as Catwoman in 'Batman Returns' sans all the BDSM stuff? Is there also a touch of 'Cats' CGI in the last bit of the trailer? What's up with the golden armour thing on Wonder Woman, too?

None of these questions have been answered of course, because, let's face it, it's a trailer and it's only met to give us splashy images with limited context. That being said, 'Wonder Woman 1984' does look distinctly colourful and joyful compared to the morose gothic vibes of 'The Batman' and the... well, whatever 'Zack Snyder's Justice League' was going for.

'Wonder Woman 1984' is currently set for release on October 2nd, 2020.
