Say Hello To My Little Friend... Again.
According to Deadline, Universal Pictures are hard at work developing a new version of the classic 'Scarface'. This movie will be based partly on both the 1932 original and the remake from 1983 starring Al Pacino and Michelle Pfeiffer, which was directed by Brian De Palma. Deadline report that the new Scarface will not be made as a remake or as a sequel but it will still maintain some ingredients present in the first two. The 1983 Scarface charted the rise and fall of gangster Tony Montana, a Cuban man who takes over the drugs trade in Miami. While this movie may not follow that plot exactly, it will still tell the story of an immigrant who, in his search for the American dream, becomes involved in the crime scene, later rising as a notorious underworld figure before inevitably falling from power. Unfortunately, specifics about where the lead character will come from - or who plays him - are not yet known. All we do know is that Scarface will be produced by Martin Bregman who also produced in 1983 along with chairman of Universal Pictures Marc Shmuger.
While it's unlikely that Pacino will star in the new film, it seems his thirst for great gangster movies remains unquenched as he is currently attached to gangster drama Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father. For this movie Pacino will be joined by Kelly Preston, John Travolta and Lindsay Lohan. Yes, that's right. Lindsay fudging Lohan.
