There have been rumours of a Fantastic Four reboot for some time, with Marvel apparently keen to move the franchise in a slightly darker direction than the kiddie friendly, first two instalments.

Now, Screen Rant are saying that there is a shortlist of actors being considered for the lead role of Reed Richards, with Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Myers and Adrien Brody apparently top of that list. Welch actor Ioan Gruffudd previously played the part, while he was backed up by current Captain America, Chris Evans. Alice Eve and Amber Heard have been mentioned for Sue Storm - previously played by Jessica Alba. 

There is no word on a director, but Marvel will not be throwing Iron Man and Avenger money at the production, and reportedly hope to make it for a similar amount to the new Spiderman - $60 - $80 million.
