Michael Fassbender is reportedly producing and starring in a big screen adaptation of the popular video game series, Assassin’s Creed.

According to Heat Vision, Fassbender will play a character called Desmond Miles, a bartender who is a descendant of several lines of prominent people clippers. The story "weaves between present day and ancient times as Miles squares off with the Knights Templar." The game series has so far had four instalments and sold in excess of thirty million units. Fassbender has been looking for a series to make his own, so will produce alongside partner Conor McCaughan and their DMC production company. The actor is currently filming Twelve Years A Slave, his third collaboration with Shame and Hunger director, Steve McQueen - which co-stars Brad Pitt.

Planning is in the very early stages, but Fassbender's star is continuing to rise, so expect some A-list directors and a big studio to get behind this one if the actor is serious about it happening.
