Eva Mendes has signed up to star opposite Nicolas Cage in the new version of Bad Lieutenant that is being directed by Werner Herzog. The beautiful actress’s role is unspecified, but it’s the second time she will star with Cage after appearing as his love interest in Ghost Rider. Herzog also addressed reports that this is a remake of the early 90’s Harvey Keitel starrer and said "It is not a remake. It is a completely different story in the same sense as the last James Bond is not a remake of the previous one." We’re confused, because if Cage is merely continuing the character, then he won’t have a lot to do as he was clipped in the original. Anyhow, we’re sure it’ll be suitably mental and gritty regardless.
