Variety have broken a hilarious story about the mayor of a small south-eastern Turkish town, called Batman, who is suing Christopher Nolan and Warner Bros. for allegedly using the name Batman, without the permission of the town. Huseyin Kalkan, the pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party mayor of Batman, said that he can offer proof that the town name predates that of the Bob Kane created characters debut on DC comics in 1939. The, obviously demented, chap is saying: "There is only one Batman in the world. The American producers used the name of our city without informing us." It's not known why he's only bringing this up now, being that the character has been around through a rake of films, TV shows and comic instalments. But it may have something to do with the fact that the film is about to cross the one billion dollar mark in worldwide grosses. Kalkan is also placing the blame for "a number of unsolved murders and a high female suicide rate on the psychological impact that the film's success has had on the city's inhabitants." Most mental story of the week and it's only Wednesday.
