Mark Wahlberg wants to make two more Fighter films, turning the Oscar winning flick into a trilogy.
The actor spoke to Extra TV whilst walking the red carpet for the Oscars on Sunday and told host Mario Lopez, "Now we're gonna talk about doing No. 2, we're gonna do the Ward /Gatti trilogy and make it real." Walhberg is referring to the trio of fights between Mickey Ward and Arturo Gatti that a lot of folk felt should've been the culmination of The Fighter. Gatti and Ward became firm friends after the bouts, but the former died in mysterious circumstances in 2009.
Would Bale or O Russell come back? Wahlberg worked his ass off getting the film made so I wouldn't rule out him doing the same for another two. The material is there anyway.
