Mark Wahlberg is one of those actors who always looks like he’s in great shape. Probably because he is in great shape. With Transformers 4 in-coming this summer, he looks every inch the action star in the trailer.

But Wahlberg has shed a startling around of weight for his work on the new film, The Gambler going from 89 kg (14 stone) or so in Transformers to closer to 61kg (9.5 stone) for his role as a professor addicted to gambling.

He told Extra TV in January when they asked about his weight, "Anytime I smell food, I get crazy," he told the show’s Maria Menounos "My daughter was eating this blueberry scone, and I wanted to like - I was going to jack her for it. I was literally going to rob my almost 4-year-old daughter for her little blueberry muffin."

A lot of actors practice this quite a bit if the role requires it; Christian Bale and Matthew McConaughey most recently, while Matt Damon lookedscarily thin in Courage Under Fire. Wahlberg also trained like a professional boxer with Mickey Ward himself for his role as Ward in The Fighter.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt helms the film, which is due early next year.
