The Irish actor recently revealed that a horse he worked on during the filming of the new Coen brothers’ movie – or ‘western anthology’, as it’s being referred to – recognised Neeson from a movie they previously worked on together.
The new movie is called ‘The Ballad of Buster Scruggs’ and Neeson told PageSix’s Cindy Adams at the New York Film Festival: “I play a traveling impresario. We filmed in New Mexico. The odd thing is the horse who pulls my wagon knew me.
“You won’t believe it. I’m saying this horse knew me. He actually remembered me from another Western we made a while back.”
Neeson didn’t mention which movie it was that he and the horse first met on, but it’s likely the film was 2014’s comedy-western ‘A Million Ways to Die in the West’, from Seth MacFarlane (though it could also be the film ‘Seraphim Falls’ from the year 2006).
If you’re wondering how the horse expressed remembering his work with Neeson, the actor answered: “He whinnied when he saw me, and pawed the ground.”
Neeson added: “I love animals. When we worked together before I took special care of him. I fed him treats. Gave him apples.”
Somewhat bonkers, yes, but also – how sweet!
‘The Ballad of Buster Scruggs’ co-stars Tim Blake Nelson, James Franco, Tyne Daly and Zoe Kazan. It arrives on Netflix on November 6th and you can watch the trailer for it here.
