The third 'Legally Blonde' movie makes further headway as two writers board the project.

'Legally Blonde 3' was first announced by Reese Witherspoon back in June 2018.

The actress plays sorority sister Elle Woods, who gets accepted into Harvard to study law, in the series.

While the first 'Legally Blonde' hits cinemas in 2001, its sequel was released in 2003.

Thus we've been waiting for ages to see a new chapter in Elle Woods' life.

Plus we could really use her sharp, sweet, optimistic attitude right now.

They've lined up a perfect writer to take on the threequel in actress-writer-comedian Mindy Kaling.

Kaling is best-known for her work on 'The Office' (on which she served as a writer, executive producer, and director, as well as playing Kelly Kapoor) and 'The Mindy Project'.

Her most recent project was Netflix series 'Never Have I Ever'.

Mindy is clearly a massive 'Legally Blonde' fan. Back in 2018, she channeled Elle Woods in a commencement address to Dartmouth graduates.

Kaling and Witherspoon - who is officially on board for the threequel - have worked together previously, both starring in 'A Wrinkle in Time' with Oprah Winfrey.

A second writer confirmed for 'Legally Blonde 3' is Dan Goor. His major credits include 'Late Night with Conan O'Brien', 'Parks and Recreation' and 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine', which he co-created.

Kaling and Goor also collaborated on the script for an untitled wedding comedy that has Priyanka Chopra and Kaling attached to direct.
