Matthew Vaughn's dark comic book movie Kick Ass, debuted some footage at Comic Con a few weeks back and drew a stunning response from the amassed geeks. Now the independently financed production (to the tune of $30 million), currently has three studios slapping each other around for a chance to distribute it. Universal, Paramount and Lionsgate have all apparently tabled a seven figure sum for a chance to handle the film; which will be great news for Vaughn, who found the dough himself after a run in with initial studio Sony over some of the ballsy content. The film is about a young vigilante, who goes up against a vicious local gangster, along with some other, far better heroes. Really like Vaughn as a helmer, so looking forward to this one.
