In movie news that we can surely put down as nothing less than bizarre, Kevin Hart is believed to be up for a movie based on the Monopoly board game.

'Monopoly' will be a collaboration from movie studios Lionsgate, and board-game specialists Hasbro.

According to Deadline, a deal involving Kevin Hart and his 'Ride Along' director Tim Story is in its "final negotiations." If it works out, Hart will star in the project as well as producing with John Cheng ('Horrible Bosses') and Carli Haney ('Dark Crimes').

Details of the new project have been kept under wraps for the moment. However, a previous version of the story was believed to follow "a young man from the game’s modest Baltic Avenue on a quest to make a fortune."

Given that Hart has been cast, and Baltic Avenue has been mentioned, 'Monopoly' is likely going down the American storytelling route. From what we can gather, Baltic Avenue is a brown card from the Monopoly board; so Hart might be looking to make all of his way around the "board" until he hits the big bucks royal blue addresses.

Hasbro has been desperate to make a movie based on its hit board game for years. With the game having reached as far as 114 countries, there's no doubt that the franchise has a global appeal.

It remains to be seen in exactly what capacity "Chance," "Free Parking," and "Go To Jail" will play in the movie. We also wonder, will the movie have a definitive ending, or will it go on for four and half hours, and end up with everyone succumbing to boredom? Your guess is as good as ours.

Stay tuned for more information on 'Monopoly' as we get it.
