Rumour has it my oul pal Johnny Depp (yeah, we had a moment) is 'not too far away' from giving up acting. WHAT!? Well actually this may not come as a surprise, he has spent the last number of years en route to 50 exercising his most wacky, creative acting muscles and while he's certainly had his fun, it hasn't always gone down too well with audiences (discounting his legion of loyal fans.)

The 50-year-old heart throb (he's STILL got it, trust me), who can currently be seen as Native American warrior Tonto in Disney's latest film 'The Lone Ranger', believes he has worked too much in recent years and he can see a time in the future when he no longer wants to appear on the big screen.

Speaking to UK TV show BBC Breakfast, he said: 'At a certain point you start thinking and when you add up the amount of dialogue you say per year and you realise you've said written words more than you've had a chance to say your own words that becomes an insane option for a human being.

'Are there quieter things I wouldn't mind doing? Yes, I wouldn't mind that.

'I wouldn't say I am dropping out any second but I would say it's not too far away.'

However, Johnny - who is dating 'Machete Kills' actress Amber Heard - isn't planning on bowing out of Hollywood before he reprises his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in a fifth 'Pirates of the Caribbean' film and plays the Hatter again in the 'Alice in Wonderland' sequel.

When quizzed whether these movies were in jeopardy, he laughed, before adding: 'No, I think we're alright in those categories.'
