The final chapter of the 'Skywalker saga' left fans and critics divided. It had the lowest box office opening of the new trilogy. On Rotten Tomatoes, it stands (at the time of writing) at a 54% approval rating. Star of the series John Boyega has joined those criticising certain elements of 'Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker'.

Boyega and his co-star Oscar Isaacs previously spoke about how they would've liked to see the exploration of a romance between their characters Finn and Poe (or 'FinnPoe' as fans have dubbed them).

Instead the filmmakers opted to focus on another romantic relationship.

As anyone who has seen the movie knows by now, that build-up of tension between Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and Rey (Daisy Ridley) ended with them beating bad guy Emperor Palpatine together before sharing a kiss, and then Kylo dies.

Last night, on New Year's Eve, Boyega sent out various tweets. The one that caught everyone's attention saw him apparently slam the love story.

Others on Twitter were loving the brazen honesty.
