Another Nicholas Sparks novel adaptation is on the way as the criminally underrated Richard Jenkins (The Visitor, Step Brothers) has joined the cast of Dear John, which Lasse Hallstrom (Cider House Rules) will direct. Fledging movie star Channing Tatum takes the lead role of a soldier who falls for Amanda Seyfried (her from Mamma Mia) while he's on leave. But when he goes off to war, it all goes tits up. Jenkins will play Tatum's father. I haven't read any of this guys book's, but if Tatum dies in the end then someone should take Sparks out the back and beat him with a John Grisham novel. C'mon, how often can you get away with that crap!?
