Well this is terrbile news. Jack Nicholson has apparently retired from acting. As per Radar Online, the 76 year old ledgebag has no plans to return to the big screen, following the most fruitful of careers and one that spanned over five decades.

Do you have a favourite Nicholson movie? Is it The Shining? Is it Chinatown? What about As Good As It Gets? And who could forget One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest? Come to think of it, I'm not sure I've ever heard of anyone NOT being a fan of this old charmer.

He reduced Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence to a puddle when he expressed his enthusiasm for her work at the Oscars earlier this year. Guess her hopes of appearing on screen alongside Nicholson will now be dashed.

A source close to the actor revealed to Radar Online that "Jack has - without fanfare - retired"

"There is a simple reason behind his decision - it's memory loss. Quite frankly, at 76, Jack has memory issues and can no longer remember the lines being asked of him... His memory isn’t what it used to be."

Without fanfare? If there's one actor deserving of fanfare as he decides to kick back in his Twilight years, it's this guy. An inspiration to all aspiring actors and fully immersed in every role he sought to bring to life, there's few classic Hollywood stars that'd shine as brightly as Jack.

The three time Academy Award winner's last movie was How Do You Know starring Paul Rudd and Reese Witherspoon back in 2010. His first foray into acting began in the 50s before making his debut in 1958's The Cry Baby Killer.
