Rumour mill has started chugging away in Hollywood with word that a Friends movie is nigh. The Daily Mail is quoting "sources" who say that the success of the Sex and the City movie has given the cast an extra incentive to take part in a big screen adaptation. The series was huge through all of its nine or so seasons, and finally wrapped in 2004 with Monica and Chandler adopting twins, Joey leggin’ it to LA, Ross and Rachel getting together and Phoebe marrying Paul Rudd. How would a film work though? SATC was a HBO series, so it already had cinematically adaptable themes and was pasted on a wider canvas. Friends was an old school sitcom complete with a live studio audience. I think Matthew Perry is an immensely underrated comedic actor, but I’m still not convinced this would work. Thoughts?
