Ooh, we're still unsure about The Rock, but could our very own Jonathan Rhys Meyers be cast in JJ Abrams' Star Wars Episode 7? That would be awesome. Not so much that we're convinced he'd be good in the film, but more so that being Irish we can claim him as our own, therefore enticing the movie's movers and shakers to premiere the hotly anticipated film in Ireland. Well, we can dream, right? Cue the fangasms of countless Irish Star Wars worshippers.

Such whisperings become all the more understandable when you learn that Jonathan and JJ already have a great relationship, having worked together on the third Mission Impossible.

This news comes from an apparently reliable source, reporting to the Latino Review. We don't know much about the plot, we certainly don't know who Meyers would play but we do know that Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher (dohnuts and all) are returning.

You can expect to see Star Wars Episode 7 sometime in 2015, with filming due to begin early next year.

Most known for his role on The Tudors (and let's not forget Bend It Like Beckham), do you think Rhys Meyers would be a good fit? What kind of role in the Star Wars universe would best suit him?
