Last week’s bonus episode to The Filum Show – which you can download on iTunes, Soundcloud or wherever you get podcasts – saw us chat to Chris Kelly about his extraordinary debut A Cambodian Spring (check out our five star review).

The movie looks at the corruption behind the development of the Boeung Kak Lake in Phomh Penh, where residents were promised development in their poverty-stricken area, but instead were faced with the lake being pumped right into their homes, flooding them and driving them out. A Cambodian Spring follows the locals who stood up against the developers.

Chris told us about the inspiration for the powerful, moving documentary as well as about some of the gruelling challenges behind it. He talked about the role of a monk called Venerable Luon Sovath in the movie, as well as about his hopes for the doc, and his next mammoth project.
