James Wan (the extremely effective Insidious as well as the first Saw film) is in final negotiations to direct The Conjuring, reports Variety.

According to the trade paper the film is "inspired by the true-life story of the Perron family, who claimed they lived among the dead during the 70s as spirits, both friendly and sinister, inhabited their Rhode Island farmhouse."

Another spooky house flick after the genuinely unsettling Insidious isn't a problem for me. The fact that it's based on a true story adds something else, also.
