Inside Llywyn Davis has won the Best Picture Prize at the Oscars for indies, the Gotham Awards.

It beat favourite 12 Years a Slave to take the top award, although no one should be surprised really, it is a Coen brothers flick.

The Best Actor award was given to Matthew McConaughey for his role as AIDS stricken drug smuggler Ron Woodward in Dallas Buyer's Club and up-and-comer Brie Larson took home the Best Actress gong for playing a foster home supervisor in Short Term 12.

Another future star Michael B. Jordan was awarded with Best Breakthrough Actor for Fruitvale Station (beating 12 Year's a Slave's Lupita Nyong'o), Breakthrough Director went to Ryan Coogler, who took the helm for Fruitvale Station and Best Documentary went for the harrowing The Act of Killing.
