His name has been in the running for several years to play the most famous secret agent in film - but it looks like Idris Elba may well scoop the role of his career, according to recent reports.
They say that director Antoine Fuqua "revealed the details of a conversation with Bond producer Barbara Broccoli, in which she said "it is time" for a non-white actor to take on the iconic role. Fuqua discussed who might be next in the running with Broccoli, who's certain the progressive move "will happen eventually", with Idris Elba a reported frontrunner for the role."
Although the 'Luther' star himself has flipped-flopped on his stance about playing 007 over the years - initially saying that he "would do it", before later dismissing it and saying he didn't want to be known as "the black Bond" - even Steven Spielberg has gone on record as saying that Elba would be his "first choice" for Bond.
He certainly ranked highly in a poll we conducted in 2016... perhaps it's time to give the people what they want?
