He's been a wolverine, a robot boxing coach, a wanted man and a, well, WANTED man (y'know what we're talking about) but now, Hugh Jackman's star is truly in the ascendence. Or should we say on the way down? It is on a footpath after all.

The boy from Oz was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday and from the looks of it, a lot of Los Angeles turned out to see him get down on his knees and accept the accolade. Even his Les Miserables co-stars Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried were on hand to support him and smile for the cameras.

It's been a good week for Hugh; not only did he pick up a Best Actor nomination from the Screen Actor's Guild for his turn as Jean Valjean in Les Mis, the gang over at The Golden Globes gave him the same nod just a day later. He told E!Online that he couldn't quite believe his luck. "It's kind of a surreal day. I'll probably always remember Thursday, December 13 and I think I'm either going straight from here to buy a lottery ticket or to a casino because it just feels like someone is looking down on me in a very nice way at this moment."

The Les Mis star is also hoping that the film will pick up an Oscar nomination or two because he'd love to bring a little bit of the stage show to Hollywood. Hugh Jackman singing and dancing and being, well, Hugh Jackman? Won't say no to that. C'mon Academy, don't let us down now!
