It's with a heavy hear that we report that we won't be getting another Hellboy movie with Ron Pearlman in the lead role.

Back in October, Pearlman admitted that he and Guillermo Del Toro don't talk about Hellboy 3 any more

"He’s busy, and I’m busy. Maybe one day he’s going to call and say, ‘Hey, let’s do it.’ But for right now? We’re happy discovering new worlds to conquer."

Whatever hopes we had left after that have well and truly been crushed with the news today that Hellboy is getting the reboot treatment.

The sliver lining in all of this is that we already have word on who will be taking on the lead role and honestly we couldn't think of a better choice. According to the character's creator, Mike Mignola, Stranger Things star David Harbour will be taking on the role for an R-Rated reboot.

Mignola took to Facebook to share the news and also revealed that Neil Marshall (he of The Descent and Game of Thrones fame) will be directing.

It is sad that we won't get to see Del Toro and Pearlman take another crack at the whip but damn if we're not excited about what Marshall and Harbour could do with the character.
