Harry Styles is diving into the cast of 'The Little Mermaid' - possibly.

Harry has already proven his acting chops in 'Dunkirk'. He was one of the front runners to play Elvis Presley in a musical biopic from Baz Luhrmann. However he lost out on the role to Austin Butler.

Rob Marshall, who previously helmed 'Mary Poppins Returns' and 'Into the Woods' for Disney, directs 'The Little Mermaid' live-action remake.

A number of cast members have been added in recent weeks. These include Melissa McCarthy in the role of baddie Ursula, and Awkwafina and Jacob Tremblay as Scuttle and Flouder.

R&B singer Halle Bailey of Chloe x Halle fame will play Ariel. If Styles plays Erik, that's two solid musicians in the leading roles.

Prince Eric is a human who Ariel falls in love with and becomes human to be with. The character performed no songs in the original but that'll definitely change if Harry comes on board. Currently, the former One Direction band member is in early negotiations to play the part.

He's a popular choice on Twitter anyway.

Styles also made headlines recently when he had to testify in court against his alleged stalker.
