The Hangover 2 has broken box-office records during its first few days of release in America.
The comedy sequel grossed a staggering $138 million in its opening four days, easily making it the biggest R rated comedy opening of all time. Reviews had not been kind to the film; with most claiming it was essentially the same as the first, with a lot of regurgitated gags. But director Todd Phillips seems to have given audiences what they want, despite what the critics thought. The film also opened number one in Ireland with a huge €1.48 million - the biggest opening of the year by a long shot.
The original had strong legs and held extremely well over the following weeks; that type of buzz in minimal for this sequel. Regardless of how much it trails off, it is still a mammoth hit.
