Guy Ritchie is to direct a new big screen adaptation of Sherlock Holmes. The sometimes talented (Snatch), sometimes teeth-grindingly shite (Revolver) helmer is currently putting the finishing touches to his London set gangster film RocknRolla, which stars Jeremy Piven and Gerard Butler. That film is apparently a return to Ritchie’s roots of cheeky cockneys’ and excessive violence steeped subversively in humour. Also, Jeremy Piven is in it so we’re looking forward to it. His Sherlock Holmes will apparently be "more adventuresome and take advantage of his skills as a boxer and swordsman" - which means they’re amping up the action basically. No word on who could star yet, but expect Jude Law to be heavily linked to the part.
