It looks as though Guy Ritchie could be handed the reins for the highly anticipated sequel to 300, entitled Xerxes. The original creative force behind 300 Zack Snyder had long been attached to the project but his commitments to Warner Bros' new Superman project has meant that he's had to cast aside the prequel to his biggest film to date. Xerxes, which according to Frank Miller (writer of the graphic novel) takes place 10 years before the epic battle of Thermopylae, will contain even more brutal war scenes and cut-throat sword n' spear battles. Ritchie impressed Warner Bros' with his deft handling of Sherlock Holmes and seems to have moved considerably on from the low-budget Brit gangster fare with with he made his name.
