Guardians of the Galaxy officially became the highest grossing movie of the summer this passing weekend, so far taking $252 million domestically and once again sitting on top of the box-office.

Other new entrants were not as lucky, as the sequel to Sin City, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, bombed after receiving less than stellar reviews. The film took a genuinely shocking $6.8 million in its opening 3 days.

Chloe Mortez young adult novel adaptation If I Stay did OK grossing $16.3 million, while inspirational football drama When the Game Stands Tall did $9 million, off of a $15 million budget. Not bad.

Well done to James Gunn and of his team - 'Guardians' is a blast.
