There were not one but two winners of the Best Picture award given by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association on Sunday; Gravity and Her.

Unusually, the 'lost in space' epic and romantic-drama were not the only joined winners; two other categories ended up with ties.

James Franco and Jared Leto share the Best Supporting Actor award for Spring Breakers and
Dallas Buyers Club respectively, and Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmie) and Adèle Exarchopoulos (Blue is the Warmest Colour) tied for Best Actress.

Other winners were Bruce Dern - Best Actor - for Alexander Payne's Nebraska, Lupita Nyong’o - Best Supporting Actress for 12 Years a Slave and Alfonso Cuarón - Best Director - Gravity. Gravity also won the best Editing and Best Cinematography awards.

There are so many decent films out this year that can be considered for major awards, we think that award committees are going to have a pretty hard time deciding on outright winners. Awards excitement is definitely something to look forward to in 2014.
