The latest adaptation on the King of the Jungle just got a lot more interesting…

Obviously, we expressed last week that we are not great fans of the new Legend of Tarzan movie.

However, had this moment between the two male leads – Alexander Skarsgard and Christoph Waltz – actually been left in the final cut, this could have been a whole other movie.

Tarzan director David Yates told The Times that he shot a scene where the villainous Belgian soldier Rom (Waltz) goes in to kiss Skarsgard’s Tarzan while he is unconscious, attracted to the King of the Jungle’s ‘wildness.’

The kiss would have come shortly before Rom tells Margot Robbie’s Jane that her husband’s wildness ‘disturbs [him] more than I can even express.’

However, the gay kiss was cut from the final edit because ‘test audiences were perplexed by it,’ says Yates.

‘It was too much,’ he continues. ‘It was this really odd, odd moment when Christoph kisses him. We loved it at the time. But… in the end it just felt too clever and overworked.’

Maybe it’ll materialise on the internet or as a DVD special feature at some point in the future…
