So, just when you thought the Planet of the Apes reboot couldn't get any more interesting, they've only gone and snapped up Gary Oldman to star in the upcoming sequel. Set 15 years after the last film, Dawn of Planet of the Apes is just weeks away from shooting.

ComingSoon.net reports that Oldman will join Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) and Kodi Smitt-McPhee (the young fella from Let Me In) for the film. They say he'll be playing the leader of a human colony who are battling for survival, while Serkis' Ceasar is struggling to maintain control of his super smart apes.

We're rather excited to see what Gary will bring to the table for this one. We loved him in the Dark Knight trilogy and can't wait to catch him opposite Harrison Ford in Paranoia. Then there's the little RoboCop remake we've been hearing rumours about... We'll keep you posted.

Dawn of The Planet of the Apes is scheduled for release this time next year, and no ladies, James Franco will not be returning. We hear he's still in the land of Oz....
