Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden are two filmmakers I really think are doing interesting and lovely work. They broke onto the scene with the Oscar nominated Half Nelson, and followed up that cracking film with an absorbing off-beat production about a baseball player with big dreams from the Dominican Republic, Sugar. They're not venturing far from their indie sensibilities with the novel adaptation, It's Kind of a Funny Story. Film will centre on a teenager who suffers from depression and ends up in the adult section of a mental home, where he meets characters far more troubled than him. It will have a budget of $8 million, and casting is already underway.
