Stories of the former South African President's illness have dominated the media of late, but now the first trailer for the latest Nelson Mandela biopic has dropped, giving us a chance to see Idris Elba in action as the man himself.
Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom charts the rise of the South African icon, from political prisoner to world-renowned figurehead, promising to teach us all a thing or two about the leader we knew, and the man we didn't. Skyfall's Naomie Harris co-stars as Winnie Mandela, while Les Miserables screenwriter William Nicholson is to thank for the script.
Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom hits cinemas on January 3rd, 2014.
