Directed by Michael Engler and written by 'Downton Abbey' creator Julian Fellowes, the Crawley family will be welcoming you into their lives once again when the 'Downton Abbey' movie arrives in cinemas on September 13th.

The smash-hit television series 'Downton Abbey' followed the lives of the Crawley family and the servants who worked for them at the turn of the 20th century in their Edwardian English country house and ran for six seasons with countless Christmas specials, making it mandatory family viewing.

Having garnered three Golden Globe Awards, 15 Primetime Emmy Awards and 69 Emmy nominations in total, as well a Special BAFTA award and a Guinness World Record for the highest critically rated TV show along the way, a movie was inevitable and here we have it.

From this trailer, it looks like all your favourite characters are returning and yes, that does include Dame Maggie Smith's Violet Crawley, the irrepressible Dowager Countess of Grantham.

The plot centers on the visit of the King and Queen of England to the Abbey, with what almost looks like a 'Home Alone'-esque rebellion happening downstairs while upstairs there's bickering between the Dowager Countess and Imelda Staunton's character, Lady Bagshaw, and a potential love interest for Allen Leech.

Needless to say, they seem to be ticking all the boxes that fans of a 'Downton Abbey' movie would want ticked.

'Downton Abbey' arrives in Irish cinemas on September 13th.
