David Fincher's proposed adaption of the graphic novel Torso has been reportedly put on the backburner, after Paramount allowed their option of the rights to the project to lapse. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount are approaching their current slate of possible productions films with extreme caution, despite having both Matt Damon and Casey Affleck interested in the project. On top of the star-name cast, Fincher has just become the hottest director in Hollywood, with the wonderful Curious Case of Benjamin Button picking up 13 nominations at the Academy Awards announcement yesterday. Torso had apparently been renamed 'Ness' and centred on the true exploits of Al Capone's arch-nemesis Elliot Ness, as he investigated some grizzly slayings.  This really sounded fantastic, and it would've been nice to see Fincher go for an out-and-out thriller again. Still, despite this setback, there's still a chance the film might get made at another studio. Fingers crossed...
