Colin Farrell has officially been offered the lead role in the Len Wiseman directed remake of Total Recall.

Sony Pictures are funding the film, and apparently stumped for Farrell ahead of both Tom Hardy, and fellow Paddy, Michael Fassbender. Variety broke the story, saying Farrell's casting would "contemporise" the production that bit more. The Castleknock native has several films awaiting release, including London Boulevard, opposite Keira Knightley, and Peter Weir's Oscar contender, The Way Back.

Wiseman last helmed Die Hard 4.0 and is also behind the first two Underworld films, so we have him to thank for Kate Beckinsale in a latex bodystocking.
