Colin Farrell and Michael Fassbender are both being linked with the lead role in the remake of 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger starrer, Total Recall.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Inception star Tom Hardy is also being mooted for the project, which has been written by Kurt Winner (Law Abiding Citizen) and will be helmed by Len Wiseman (Underworld, Die Hard 4.0). Farrell is apparently top of the list, though, as both Fassbender and Hardy are attached to other franchise films (X-Men and Batman 3), with Fassbender also being linked with a large part in The Hobbit.

Farrell has the villain role in Fright Night, and a comedic part in Horrible Bosses coming up, but this would be his first big budget foray since Miami Vice in 2007. Hollywood seems to be sitting up and taking notice of his acting chops once more. About time...
