It was a fantastic evening for the Paddy's at the Golden Globes last night, as both Colin Farrell and Gabriel Byrne took home Globes for their roles in In Bruges and In Treatment. Bruges lost out Best Feature: Musical or Comedy to Woody Allen's Vicky Cristina Barcelona, but Farrell took home a deserving win for his brilliant performance in the Irish box-office smash. Byrne headlines the HBO series In Treatment as a psychiatrist with his own problems, beating out strong competition to take his Globe for Best Actor in a Television Series (Drama). Elsewhere, Kate Winslet achieved the enviable feat of picking up two awards in the same night, when she won Best Actress in a Drama for Revolutionary Road, and Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Reader - having previously been nominated five times without picking up a gong. The big winner of the night was Slumdog Millionaire, which won every single category it was nominated for including Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Feature (Drama), making it the clear favourite for the Oscars. It was also great to see the lovely Sally Hawkins pick up Best Actress (Comedy/Musical) for Happy-Go-Lucky, while Mickey Rourke gave an emotional acceptance speech after his expected win for The Wrestler. Farrell now has an outside chance of getting an Oscar nomination, after a brilliant year for the Castleknock native. Expect his name to now be linked with every big budgeted leading man role in Hollywood. You can see how rich, famous folk dress by clicking here.
