They were knocking about promoting The Mist, and are obviously old mates - Darabont previously directed The Shawshank Redemption from a King novel. The Mist is released this Friday and is a cracking horror flick.

Frank Darabont: Did I ever tell you how I first discovered your work?

Stephen King: Men's room wall?

FD: Literary Guild, remember the book club?

SK: Yep.

FD: I was in high school, flaky high school kid. To not get the main selection, remember, you had to send the card back. I didn't want the main selection because I didn't have the money to pay for it. But I forgot to send the card back and this box comes in the mail and I pull it out and it looks right up my alley cause apparently it's a spooky tale right. And it's something called The Shining More
