Ewan McGregor is set to play the lead villain in the female-centric comic-book villain caper, 'Birds Of Prey'.
Deadline reports that McGregor will play Roman Sionis, better known as Black Mask, in the next instalment of Warner Bros' floundering DC Expanded Universe. McGregor joins an ensemble cast that includes Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, and Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya.
Black Mask first appeared as a villain of Batman in 1985, and quickly became notable for the excessive violence in comics that featured the character. He also appeared in the videogame 'Arkham Origins' as the main antagonist, whilst a variation of the character appeared in the TV series 'Gotham'.
Director Cathy Yan also revealed that 'Birds Of Prey' will be rated R, which makes sense considering the choice of villain and how violent it's likely to be.
'Birds Of Prey' is set for release in Irish cinemas on February 7th, 2020.
