After the so-so performance of Terminator: Genisys, it's no wonder that the future of the Terminator franchise is looking doubtful at best.

In fact, there's another nail in the proverbial coffin coming directly from the horse's mouth. Emilia Clarke, who played Sarah Connor in Genisys, pretty much drew a line under taking on the role again in a recent interview. "No. Uh-uh. But I have some very different roles coming up."

What those roles entail, we're not entirely sure. We do know that she's due to star in weepy-romance Me Before You with Sam Claflin, which is undoubtedly going to catapult right out from her Game of Thrones typecasting. She's also got from Voice From The Stone, a small little indie film in which Clarke plays a nurse in '50s Italy who's trying to help a young boy who fell mute after the sudden death of his mother.

It's a shame, really, because she was pretty decent as a younger Sarah Connor. Fair enough, she'll never beat Linda Hamilton or her incredible guns in Terminator 2: Judgement Day, but who can? Nobody, that's who. She was trained by an Israeli commando and did six-mile runs every day during Terminator 2: Judgement Day. She could literally break your arm in five places with one hand.

As for the status of the Terminator franchise, the word is that it needs 're-adjusting' - which is a fancy way of saying scrap the whole thing and start over again. As to who and what form that'll take is anyone's guess. The bidding war for the Terminator franchise was pretty brutal and, with the right director and creative team behind it, it could live again.

Here's hoping because we'd love to see something along the lines of this on our screens again.
