In case you've been living under a rock these past few weeks, High School Musical 3 opened in cinemas this passing weekend. The film has lived up to its "phenomenon" tagging and coined an opening weekend in America of $42 million - not bad for a flick that initially aired on TV. Well its star Zac Efron is now officially hotshit, thus his proposed Footloose remake with HSM3 director Kenny Ortega has been fast-tracked by Paramount and the actor will receive a pay packet estimated in the mid-to-high seven figure range. Efron next has comedy 17 Again due for release, where he plays a young Matthew Perry (don't see it either). The original Footloose is a cheese-ridden 80's classic that starred the mighty Kevin Bacon as someone who had been repeatedly hit with the rhythm stick, and brought his snake-like hips to a town where dancing was outlawed.  Kenny Loggins provided the criminally catchy soundtrack.
