Robert Downey Jr is in talks to star in Paul Thomas Anderson's latest, Inherent Vice reports Risky Biz Blog.
Anderson had been working on The Master with Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Jeremy Renner, but funding on that fell through - it had a reported budget of $35 million. Downey Jr. is apparently very keen on the role in the new flick, which would involve him playing a "stoner detective" investigating mysterious cases in LA in 1969.
Downey has pulled out of Oz, the Great and Powerful and is looking for a project post Avengers.
