District 9 had a hugely impressive start at the American box-office this passing weekend, as it coined a huge $37 million in its first three days, making $7 million more that its entire budget already. The film, which is produced by Peter Jackson, has garnered pretty much all rave reviews from American critics, and should also do excellent repeat business thanks to word of mouth. Elsewhere, The Time Traveler's Wife placed third with a decent $19.2 million, while Jeremy Piven starrer The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard didn't set the box office alight with $5.4 million; although it did have a paltry budget of $10 million, so should recoup its cost and them some anyway.
