Having wowed audiences and critics with District 9, director Neil Blomkamp has just secured financing for his next project, which won't yet be the proposed sequel, District 10. He told Variety his new film is "very much a singular film, that comes directly from me. It is absolutely another science fiction film, quite different from District 9, but some of the blending of genres and the tone might be within the same realm. " there were a lot of things that struck me about Blomkamp's obviously ability as a director whilst watching his alien flick, but one of the biggest was how he was able to deliver such scope on such a small budget. Surely in the current economic climate, studios would be killing themselves to hire such a director? Imagine what he could do with a huge franchise.
