It's pretty much a given that someone is scraping the bottom of a barrel when they agree to make a sequel to a franchise they thought they were too good for to begin with; but when they do it twice, it's hard not to think it's purely for a paycheque. Vin Diesel will headline another XXX film for Sony, but sadly it's a not a big budget hump fest. The actor will apparently return alongside original director Rob Cohen for a second sequel in the beyond bland action series. Hack extraordinaire Lee Tamahori directed the Ice Cube-led follow up XXX 2: State of the Union a few years back, but it bellyflopped at the box office. Diesel is already returning to one franchise he bailed from, The Fast and the Furious, as he is desperately in need of a profile raise and hit to justify his large salary after Babylon AD became another expensive mistake on his CV.
