Brian De Palma has signed on to direct a serial killer film based on The Boston Strangler murders. The flick will be called The Boston Stranglers, and will explore the notion that there was either more than one killer than the captured (and consequently shiv’d) Albert DeSalvo, or that he faked his confession and the real culprit was never caught.  The murders took place in the 60’s, and created a whirlwind of paranoia in the city, not dissimilar to that of the Zodiac murders in San Francisco. De Palma previously took over from David Fincher on another historic whodunit The Black Dahlia, and this sounds like the technically savvy helmer of Scarface and Carlito’s Way is following suit yet again.
