Robert De Niro could very well be back on form after a subpar few years, as it's been announced he'll star in the film I Heard You Paint Houses, for long time collaborator Martin Scorsese. According to Variety, De Niro will play Frank "the Irishman" Sheeran, who is reputed to have carried out more than 25 mob murders, and been the assassin involved in the clipping of Teamster Jimmy Hoffa. Scorsese is attached to direct the film with De Niro also producing, and lauded scripter Steve Zaillian adapting the screenplay from the book of the same name. There's no denying that De Niro's quality control has been broken in recent years, but with the news of this and also his reteaming with Michael Mann on other crime flick Frankie Machine, we are hopefully going to see one of the greatest actors of his generation reclaim his crown. Scorsese just wrapped Dennis Lehane thriller Shutter Island with Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo.
